Menstrual Monday 6/7/10
We're still recovering from our fun-but-busy weekend at the Seattle Green Festival, so this week's Menstrual Monday is short and sweet! GladRags fan Faith Anne sent us in this interesting science tidbit that we had to share:
I use hydrogen peroxide as an oxygen-based cleaning solution for my GladRags. We all know that hydrogen peroxide foams up and reacts with blood, right? Well, it turns out that anybody cleaning a GladRag has a handy example of an exothermic chemical reaction: there's enough blood in even a rinsed-out GladRag that simply pouring hydrogen peroxide over it will make it mildly warm to the touch from the heat released from the chemical reaction as it cleans.
GladRags: good for you and the environment, now with added science!
Thanks, Faith Anne! We'll be back to our regularly scheduled Menstrual Monday next week.
